Heart of RamA Poem by Wild YogiOn the search of finding yourself
Where is Ram?
Go out and search for him Look and look and look Is he anywhere at home? Maybe he is in your music Or the sports you watch every Sunday If he isn't there, check the office Is he in your reports? Or possibly the patients assigned to you? Certainly he must be somewhere! Travel, search every corner of the world Visit the lemurs of Madagascar And the sages of Rishikesh Go to the top of Uluru Dive to the bottom of an ocean trench If he isn't there he must be nowhere Such is the conclusion of the worldly It starts with a search And then starts again with another search The first search is an arduous climb Up a mountain higher than clouds It takes you through every experience That is known to man It shows you how to eat How to sleep How to read literature How to manage money How to cheat How to drive a car And ultimately how to die Death begins the other search When one sees that no thing Can take you to the heart of Ram The desire is only for Ram Thus the mountaineer begins his descent He never saw the peak There never was a peak Only endless mountain On his descent he lets go of his pack Sends his tent away with his gear At the bottom is a still lake The man sits, forgets the mountain And feels the heart of Ram Beating in his chest © 2017 Wild Yogi |
