Unfolding from within

Unfolding from within

A Poem by A Poor Player

I was born to do this work

Of waiting and watching

This lowly and lonesome task of

Sitting and seeing

I chose time and time again

The being instead of doing

The feeling

The noticing

The failed freedom of an unedged life

So empty of the expectations of others

They all say in silence what a waste

I saw it differently

The looking inward towards the Self

The untethering of sensate sensibilities

The loss of losing

That gained grain of beauty in everything

Even my mind wandered back and forth

Looking for truth amongst what it failed to understand

I saw from the inside out the Divine’s divinity in all beings

As the world’s rat race rallied around me

I prayed for pretence to leave me

For the sweet surrender of seeing the breeze in the trees

And the soft padding of the ground’s grass below

Unfold within me honesty

Grant me the guidance to live this life like a prayer.

I think most people will identify with this if they are honest with themselves.

Also... Madonna's 'Like a Prayer'... you should attach that song to this poem.

Wow, I can relate to the feeling of waiting and watching. Even some as a waste of time. I love your poem
