Poetry Wheel

Poetry Wheel

A Poem by A Poor Player

I remember the clay dancing in my young fingers

The pottery wheel spinning out a yarn of fanciful

And free artistry

What can you learn to make now with your life

As you did back then on that potter’s wheel

Shape each curve that comes your way

Turn the misfortune of a mistake into a

Magnificent wonder of a gnarled knowing

Take the lump of clay that shows no shape

And treat it with such keen kindness

Model it on the strength you put

Into the hands that melded it

Care for the concept that you are busy

Growing out of your own wisdom

What could possibly prevent you from

Loving your own creation

Don’t seek for perfection on your

Potter’s wheel search instead for the

Sincerity of a genuine grasp at life’s

Way of loving you back into fullness
