Brevity of Togetherness—a sonnet

Brevity of Togetherness—a sonnet

A Poem by Doug Ordunio

The pulse that beats within two restless hearts,

Unites lips in a smoldering heady kiss,

A joining unexpectedly imparts

An atmosphere of sublime eternal bliss

How many times can flames of love burn bright,

To heat the mortal flesh, a tender breast?

How will the sounds of whispers in the night,

Spark embers in a memory at rest?

Will ecstasy’s vibration then subside,

Restore the active souls to inner peace?

Can silence gradually stem the churning tide,

Cause chattering voices of the soul to cease?

Love is a brief and momentary dream,

Which we may feel but once within life’s stream.

A beautiful sonnet, very worthy of the effort, and full of a mystic, unique charm. Wonderfully penned!
