In our defense

Its written in many books,

Each a different story,

Many speak the twisted truth,

And fabricate the glory.

 

So what is it that has the might,

The bullet or the pen,

Both are lethal weapons,

In the hands of men.

 

Save yourself some time,

Don't follow the empty scoop,

See the soldier morn his loss,

And ask about his troop.

 

For the brothers that they are in arms,

They're ready to go to war,

The images that they see,

Would shake you till your raw.

A lovely poem Mike! You managed to sculpt a point so skillfully that you didn't need to use over-dramatic language. I especially liked:
