Heart on a Platter

Heart on a Platter

A Poem by Snowman Mike

Does it really matter,

If you put your heart on a platter,

Is it right to be infumed,

Knowing that your soul's consumed.

Showing interest and genuinely keen,

Not being noted and not being seen,

Unable to fit into traditional moulds,

The future unchallenged within what it holds.

Do you have the inner fire,

To burn brighter than you desire,

Holding your soul with all your might,

Can it carry you though the long dark night.

The tick that tocks and bell that chimes,

Dispossessed and fading between the times,

Its not easy being strong,

Not knowing if it can last that long.

Will the ship reach the shore,

With loneliness watered down ever more,

Give me time to take stock,

As long as there is some kind of rock.
