A need to write

A need to write

A Story by Wiif

I am not a big fan of digital writing, no matter how advanced the technology gets, I'll always prefer the pen and paper. I still can't write the draft of an essay or do my homework directly on the computer, I still need to have a pen between my fingers, to see the blue lines it makes as I move my hand in swift precise moves. Writing on paper is just a pleasure and such a charming procedure: the smell of the ink, the feel of the paper, the motion of the hand and the sight of what your own hand is making, especially if you have a beautiful hand-writing. Writing is a comfort for people like me who really suck at speaking their thoughts out, even though, written or spoken, the words are the same, it just seems much easier to write them down, and it just feels good to give to the somehow-random lines and curves, a perfect sense. Writing is fulfilling and liberating. And I am positive that the day I cease to write is the day I cease to exist.
I am tired of the classical diaries, where you write and write and write, but no one reads except you, it is kind of sad, because don't we all write, even with the smallest hope of being read ? No matter how much we like being alone, how much we push people away, and how much we are afraid of letting them into our lives, we always secretly wish for someone to look into the depths of us and understand our lonely souls, we always wish for someone to read us, because we make a "horcrux" of every piece we write, we always include a part of ourselves, be it consciously or unconsciously.

Your words are refreshing and wise. I too write longhand with pen and paper. I do it on the subway during the morning rush. Sometimes I find myself scribbeling away so earnestly and so deep in though that I miss my subway stop. The pen helps me connect more to my writing. It was wonderful to read your thoughts on why you prefer to use pen. There is another eason I always use a pen - I can't type.

So beautiful ! Writing is existing !
I can so much relate .. the joy i feel when I write using a pen is just irreplaceable, seeing how letters manage to hug in harmony and turn into something we recognize, something that looks so much like us ...
A very interesting and well-written read

I like to write two lines of words inside a notebook that is delineated for one. The words are tiny but I can read the whole page in a few seconds and save paper too, putting a whole book inside those 6x9 spiral notebooks. Later on when I have corrected the mistakes, I transfer it to electronic media, not as enjoyable as the original thought process, though. There is something about having that little mechanical pencil in the hand. Sometimes I even go over the .07 mm pencil with Mars Staedtler Rapidograph and india ink after proofreading. Sounds funny but enjoyable to me.

I liked your writing. Good Job.

Yes it is true; we all want someone to read us. I think we all blend into each other.

Glad you liked it, thank you ! :)
Absolutely exceptional. Wonderful writing. I myself have been storing my own inner thoughts in journals for years, and years. You chose the right words here. Thank you for sharing this for writers everywhere. Its the best public relation essays ever. 'Be immune to rumor' See how I leave a memorable catchy phrase. I wish writers of this new millennium would all do this classic original way of finding their own. Putting simple words to make people think, its so simple; yet so refreshing. Jimmy Nuzz

How very, very true that is! You managed to capture these feelings and longings so perfectly- I (and I'm sure most of us on here!) can definitely relate! I really enjoyed reading this. Excellent writing! :)
