Grave Thoughts

Standing on the edge, been here a thousand times.

I fear this time shall be my last

darkness surrounds me it comes too fast.

Completely alone as I always am.

Even the moon and stars have abandoned me.

The ocean and sky are meshed together

creating a black shroud draped over time forever.

Emptiness all around, nothing I can see.

Hopelessness and sorrow hide in the shadows

slowly sneaking up on me.

The only sound is the ebb and flow of the waves.

This sound entrances me like a sirens cry calling my name.

My life is engulfed by the darkness

absorbing me, pushing me down.

There's no escape, I'm frozen by the sound

Emptiness steals my soul and drags it out to sea.

I am left hollow, I am left numb.

There is nothing left of me.

The sun no longer shines, daylight never comes.

One last time I try to break free

the shroud is too strong, it binds me.

As the tide starts to swell, I sink into the sand

I desperately etch a message on the land.

"Please, someone remember me!"
"Remember the soul that was lost at sea."
