Harlequin Girl

Harlequin Girl

A Poem by Harlequin
"

Behind the mask

"
Harlequin girl with a smile on her face
such an amusing story she tells.
The life of the party is her calling
Joie de vivre is what she sells.

Harlequin girl with the beautiful eyes
comedy and laughter her tricks of the stage
Her euphoric air will intoxicate you
breathing life into this dreary age.

Harlequin girl hides behind a mask
brilliant colors adorned with jewels.
A facade that keeps the demons at bay
turning all believers into fools.

Harlequin girl wipes the makeup away
revealing her true face behind the veil
Somber and quiet a mysterious soul
Contrasted with an opposite shade of pale

Harlequin girl with nothing left to hide
all alone she's a sad little clown
Diamond tear drops run down her cheeks
as she sings a velvet ballad through her frown

I gotta say, I have no idea why it has taken this long for this poem to finally get a comment, for this is fantastic! The musicality may be wonky in a couple of places, but that's nothing.....on the whole you've painted a fantastic character, and told an equally fantastic narrative. Much enjoyed! Well done! (the font even added a nice touch - superb!)
