Life SentenceA Poem by HarlequinDepression
A life sentence I was
given.
Never again to be free. Judgement without trial. No jury to hear my plea. Chained to a darkness that has control over me. Bringing nothing but pain, loneliness and misery. I have lost all hope of ever finding the key. Never escaping the chains that forever bind me. I'm not sure when it happened. Darkness took me into its fold. So long ago it seems, and the truth was never told. Punishment for a crime, I know nothing about. Helplessness and solitude leaves me filled with doubt. My only comfort is a fading memory. And even that in time, will be taken from me. Everyday wishing the darkness would leave. Forever I desperately await my reprieve. Silently I lay my head on the block, in the eleventh hour of my sanity. Slowly giving up as I watch the clock. Waiting for the call that will set me free © 2018 HarlequinReviews
