gray

gray

A Poem by highonwords

to remember,
is to feel again,
how i wanted to forget

i walk on thin ice,
not looking back,
not stopping once,

i see you everywhere,
there is only nothing,
enough to keep me going

to remember to forget,
how i once knew you,
like a storm, inland,

a fever, breaking out
of my skin and bones,
to a death-rattle

i am old and still,
the sunset holding on,
for a moment

i am old but she will always be young...and we will always be those teenagers in love as we were.

that relationship never really ended, it just...well...it just passed by like a storm and a hard rain even as the sun was shining...
and a part of me will always stay young because of it.

This poem has a tone that is rather sleepy and mistlike, just like the color gray/grey. It is rather serene, if that is even the right word. My favorite part was the second to last stanza where the word "death-rattle". That's a cool word.
