'i don't want to die without any scars' - fight club

A Poem by highonwords
"

i took the quote from chuck palahniuk's 1996 novel fight club; for all the boys out there - it takes a woman to make a man out of man

"

the boys were smoking,
brass smiles, bare-knuckled,
on the streets, junkyard blues,
catatonic dreams sweeping
the highways of restlessness,
they devoured tabloid clippings,
down the gullet of longing
a hunger for fire and tears,
not knowing how to make love
with their eyes, they alone
could feel, heartbeats or stone,
they are almost always stoned,
slipping into a reverie of bones
and clutter of discontentment,
they stand on the pavement,
clapping each other on the back
