tryst

tryst

A Poem by highonwords

he doesn't look like a daydream
and speaks uncertainly of rain,
as if unsure if to kiss you,
will mean anything other than
a kiss for you alone, rare,
because he doesn't kiss anyone,
unless he sees bells, hears them
in a deep corner of his mind,
you don't have to kiss him back,
he smiles at you, he's so strange,
and you smile and walk away,
gathering the hem of your skirt
around you like flowers in bloom

there is this theme through some of your writes -- the innocent or shy boy and the more forward woman. Nice soft, romantic images here.

There is a certain dreaminess, a bit of real-yet-not-quite-so, that I find utterly beguiling in this piece, and the final simile is utterly charming.

Yes, I fully agree with the notion of the cinematic--in my view, that's clearly there.
