for my father, a love poem (2)

for my father, a love poem (2)

A Poem by highonwords

i've seen through your eyes,
i am bare-boned, not made of light,
but of burgundy in the wound,
you were drunk, when i was born,
as drunk as happiness,
you've failed me so many times,
then i saw you try and do more
than the world would allow,
i let the world see me try
to do more for it than it could stand,
because it doesn't take to kindness
as it takes so much hatred,
from people who don't understand,
this is the world to us now,
you are all the difference,
that makes me love, love,
for what i could become with it
