crawl space

crawl space

A Poem by highonwords

shoe-box sentiments,
i am laced, blue and black,
cross-wise love and faded wanderings,
i keep all my dreams, small and dark
as a crawl space, but they all fit,
leaving room for some emptiness,
last night, i wandered then,
on my way to sleep,
ran my hands in the cold vacuum,
there was a mist of you,
there was a flame,
where a lost memory caught,
and forgot itself,
i had forgotten,
grasping for you,
grasping at nothing,
chasing your face,

away

have to stop reading your poems Steph, you make me remember too much!!! too many shoe boxes, too much empty spaces for lonliness...

well,, okay maybe a few more but you have to promise to make me smile a little anyway.. Okay??!!

love the last line..."chasing your face" lace em up and run after it...even if the memory can't be caught...the chase can be fun...

really like the metaphor here.

oh, sometimes the chase gets to be too tiring - but all the more fun - thank you, jacob :)

What a great way to weave words, to combine them with images and feelings. I really enjoyed reading. The title reads perfectly :)
