touch

A Poem by highonwords

i give you a piece, just a taste,
your mouth fills up with wet kisses,
just a trace of skin, against yours
fingers, around your elbows
you'd almost sworn you've known me
from another time, another place,
a black-tie moment, with chandeliers
you happened to walk into my arms,
as if i were a trap-door, there,
in the middle of a dance, barely,
you fell into my eyes, mercurial pools,
before i caught you looking, alive
to the night's Arthurian theme,
but i am not one for a history lesson,
i am not on the moon, on the sheets
with you, not the guy by the pool table,
but if you need it, i could hold you,
the way women hold a bunch of flowers,
and think of their mothers, everyday

last three lines, big wow...reminds me of a carly simon lyric.."hold me in your hands like a bunch of flowers--keep me moving to your sweetest song---lovin' you's the right thing to do"---

and those trap doors...we gladly dance into.

A refreshing sensual feel that inches its way into romantic love with a wisdom that extenuates a real understanding of love.

Beautiful use of metaphor!

Regards,
Al
