glass promises

glass promises

A Poem by highonwords

like children,
waiting to be fed,
from your mouth,

i reach out for a kiss,
which will not quench
the need to be with you,

i need to become you,
i need to become us,
then, i need all your love

to find myself,
patiently waiting for you,
somewhere in my heart,

not with flowers,
and other trinkets,
not even glass promises

about wiping the sky
clean from stardust
and moonlight

but all of me,
flowing freely
from my eyes

when I read this it made me feel something. It made me feel what I've yearned for too many times. You did good!

just the love, not all the trappings...just the real self...that is what we want when we truly love someone...especially not glass promises that can shatter much too easily.

Beautiful, steph. The first line is stanza is visually stimulating. I truly like how you painted in words an emotion that is so hard to explain and express.
