lend me your poetry

lend me your poetry

A Poem by highonwords

lend me your poetry,
i would breathe the paper you wrote it on
let me dangle my feet onto reams of your emotion
i would swim along your words,
drink from the corals of your phrases,
fish for meaning until I become the meaning,
and I capsize into islands of your inference, senseless
ride the verses of your dreams,
alighting on the shores
of your sensibilities

spent, possessing the wickedness of storms,
head bowed not in defeat or surrender,
but the last stroke of disaster,
the crumbling of the edifice of your poems,
they become birds, feasting on my mind,
until i grow wings, and become one with them
to roost beside the sea of poetry,
until you set me free

"fish for meaning until i become the meaning'

i am quite taken by this entire poem, but that line is one i wish i had written...

poetry surely can set us free...even though we become so attached to the words.
