if you, and I

if you, and I

A Poem by highonwords

Do not run out of reasons to live,
but if you do, let living be your reason,
and if living loses its entire meaning,
do not cease to crawl out of the ashes that bind you,
for you are you, and your ghost is not enough,
will never be enough,
to tempt the sun to delay descent into the realm of the moon,
and the stars will glare their utmost heat,
but not enough, to temper the cold of shadowy nights
without your light,
If I cease to be what I am to you,
you will never cease to be what you are to me,
and if I cease to be,
you will never cease to be who you are,
this is the secret and the grace,
the everlasting sun holds,
and what the ugly moon bears,
with the entire weight of the universe,
their magic is they do exist,
'though they do disappear,
in our wide-awake eyes

A strong look at motive, at emotions, a telling-to with loads of fine lines. Like this.

Hi letterhead,
I thought this poem was a very evocative piece. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the everlasting sun and ugly moon. Well done.
