envy

I will not admit. I do not want to know.

Your thoughts replenish my hive

I would not look at you, I detest your kindness

Your words and you, the lone flower bowed

Yet, each day I help myself to your larders

These excursions are deliberate. I glide by

your perimeter, small as a beetle, intent to

arrive " pluck at your petals, in a daze,

anguished, my sting curls and twitches

Envy may cause two possible effects on people: to push oneself to be the best, or to pull down others who would attempt to be better than them. Fine if it will be the positive one.
Great choice of words. Powerful lines.

i used to have a friend and her cabinets and freezers were all full of good things to eat (and mine were not) and she used to complain about having nothing for supper

i know it was envy
