Fairy Tales

Fairy Tales

A Poem by Pretty Ugly

I don't want to be Cinderella
and wait for the prince
to put the glass shoe on my
foot.

I don't want to be red riding hood
and wait for the lumber jack to save
me from this wolf.

I don't want to be Snow White and be awoken
with a kiss from a prince I don't know.

I really don't want to be some
princess, some lost beauty without
a family.

I want to be my own person.

I want to fight my own dragons.

I don't want to be the girl
I have to be.

Nicely constructed, to the point, perfect length. I like this.

Frankly, "I'm the one I want," to echo someone else.

I like the direct and honest words. Your emotion is very good in this poem. Better to know what you want and not depend on another for life and desire. A very nice ending to a excellent poem.

I love the message in this one and simple yet effective construction. Well done!

I love this poem. It's very true that many girls don't want to be in a fairy tale. I love the way you want to be that kind of girl. :) Well done.
