Symphony #19: Movement in Metal

Symphony #19: Movement in Metal

A Poem by Nick Lynott
"

tribute to trains

"
The Orchestra of metal and steam
grudgingly work in cadence
to set the eighteen car behemoth
on its long journey.

The first lurching chug from
the engine of the California Zephyr
gives its own commencement
to the voyage as it pulls
out of old Union Station,
where for a while
it almost seemed at home.

The metal monster screams as it leaves.
