The New Old Earth

The New Old Earth

A Poem by R. P. Coke
"

in honor of earth day

"

The green earth and malice

The sound and the silence

The hate and the kiss

Yesterday and the no tomorrow

I am a borrower

I am no mans friend

As I lay and see the clouds

As I lay and hear the butterfly’s wings

I know that I am loved

And that despite the facade

I am more than just okay

And the feelings of the day

The warped nature that I hug

Is slipping slowly away

And I am just here

On some old grass

And I am so weary

And I am so content

Revenge and sin

Satan and a bird

And old man and a birth

That is where I am

On this new old earth
