The Rainy Nothing

The Rainy Nothing

A Poem by R. P. Coke
"

the rain would come, the people would shout but i was still about

"

I was leaning on a fence

I was swaying in the breeze

I was alive as I could be

Should be, not to be

The earth was dry, my mouth was wet

I wanted it to grow into a mountain

I watered it all night

The last steps were the first

On the day my heart broke

Could of been sad, not bad

No, the change was a coming

There was a cloud

There was a shout

There was no one around

I could not breathe

There were millions of ants crawling

And I saw the people were the ants

I am alive and I breathe

My God still sways the tree

The rainy day holds court

Till the sentence is passed out
