Summer Will Come

Summer Will Come

A Poem by white raven

For semi-sunny spring days end too quickly,
with hazy light filtering through clouds thickening
with all but a promise of rain to come....
and a feeling of dread weighs heavy on my shoulders.

Days too long spent in mindless pursuits,
dogged work ethics and responsible duty
smothering me in it's mundane nothingness!
Where is the light, the fairy-dust flight?

I caught a glimpse of my reflection
in a bus stop window as I passed...
recognition failed me,
for the raven has flown for the winter,
not to return....and the smile seemed forced.

But, summer will come eventually, as it always does.
