In the Ruins

In the Ruins

A Poem by karina y

You blamed me for ruining you.
But ruin is something you haven't known.
How would it feel to ruin you?
My fingertips running down your back
as I pierce through your skin,
searching for the beat.
If I grip on your heart and tear it out.
How would it feel?
That's the way I felt, on that cold concrete
crying as you told me you just weren't
happy anymore.
When you asked me not to cry, as if it
shouldn't hurt.
As the air barely reached my lungs
my hands ripping through my throat.
How would it feel if I reached inside
and showed you what you did to me.
I know you thought it hurt.
But I can show you pain,
when you left me on my own.
Drowning in my horrid thoughts.
When you told me you'd be fine if I died.
How would it feel if you actually knew
real pain?
Real ruin.
