Suffocation

Suffocation

A Poem by karina y

Like a rose you opened up to me
But I noticed not the sincerity of your petals,
for I was busy bleeding in the thorns.
I chose to see the parts of you that weren't meant to be seen,
stuck hurting in the past, the worst.
Ignored the colors and folds that made you real, what mattered most.
And as my words ripped apart my lungs, I suffocated your heart.
My heart bled for you,  in agony I hung.
I hung by the last thorn, even while you sacrificed your last petal to cushion my fall.
