Then at three, the clock strikes

Then at three, the clock strikes

A Poem by pennypauper
"

What could happen at 3 a.m?

"

I opened my eyes one midnight

Shuddered by an empty sight

I dangled my legs and opened the light

Then at three, the clock strikes

The wooden floor creaked

As I went downstairs to drink

I walked to the kitchen, opened the fridge

Then water rushed over the sink.

Irritated, I fumbled to close the faucet

And to the dark living room I headed.

I turned on the TV and watched the news

Then I heard steps like a man’s shoes.

The TV turned off suddenly

So I checked the wiring mechanically

But I heard a weeping and a lot more creaking

Then behind the door was a knocking.

Shocked, frightened and shaking,

I curled myself up and started praying

I covered my ears and squeezed my eyes

Then I let out tremulous shouts and cries.

I opened my eyes another midnight

Shuddered by an empty sight

I remained in my bed, shut again my eyes

Then at three, the clock strikes

I was inspired to make such poem because I watched two consecutive horror movies (the conjuring and insidious 2) this month. I just thought I could never be as brave as the characters in these horror films. Hey writer, thanks for reading this! Hope you somewhat, liked it!
