StandstillA Poem by Nathan DurhamThis poem is dedicated to a very special girl. This poem is about confusion and happiness as opposite faces of the same coin.
You came to me when I was in my darkest hour
When all around me was chaotic and unfair I was being crushed by devastating power Before you branched out to me with your care You reached out to me and touched my hand Everything around me then came to a stop Your words show me that you would understand That you make my sun rise, and my ground drop Then it's just us floating in an empty sea Words lose meanings, time stays in place All is peaceful when it's just you and me My soul ignites when I see your beautiful face I get butterflies when I hear your voice The feelings I have for you can't be said I would gladly take you above any choice My heart sings, but it confuses my head I am like a predator that doesn't make the kill Blinded by what I don't know how to say When I talk to you my mind is at a standstill I fear my own emotions that follow me everyday You restored my life to me, when I was in hell For that, I want you to know what I feel inside But these words are lost, so you never can tell That I'm at a standstill, so I prefer to hide
