![]() Fickle HandsA Poem by Nathan Durham![]() A simple poem about how people constantly change![]() I only wanted you to hold me It was as simple as that If only I could have seen Where I would be at Involving the way I feel Letting me chase you every day Hoping that what you say is real Wishing that you’d care But you and I can never be And you only want me out of your hair You laugh, and talk, and smile I’m ready to say what’s true And then it goes away in a while You shoot me down from my high Drop me in a corner alone Leave me here just to die Assume I’m fine on my own As if in a sudden change of heart You bring me back for more
Cradling me in your fickle hands Lifting my broken form Repairing ravaged lands And things damaged by the storm I don’t know how to feel With the way you always change It takes time for me to heal And break free from this emotional cage I guess what I’m trying to say Is that I’m not sure I can take Another random day With these puzzles that you make And you won’t always change Through your cycle of happy and
despair Fear, anger and all in that range Is despite how often you change your
view Nothing I could ever say or write Could alter thoughts of me in you © 2010 Nathan DurhamAuthor's Note
