Sonnet 1A Poem by Matt ShutlerIce shatters hope long lost while the tears freeze. Night encroaches upon desolate dreams As time fails and ash cascades in the breeze. Crimson brilliance falls as it so gleams. Memories fade to dust forever lost, Powers creating now destroying all. Sullen eyes watch the lives end at no cost, Unyielding to cries yet I still call. Hatred burning fiery chaos so dire, Eternity spent searching now undone, The heart’s pressure echoes its desire, All for weakness and entrapment of one. Your face will now linger in sight of mind, Heart broken, soul unlocked, for I was blind. © 2008 Matt ShutlerReviews
