The Ignored Child.

The Ignored Child.

A Poem by whiteNight
"

I just. Ah hell I don't know.

"
I know I'm not your favourite
And I'm not the apple of your eye
But I'll give everything to make you proud
I'll give it my hardest try

Because I know I'm good for something
One day I hope you'll see
That I'm worth more than you think
That I'm special by being me

I'm so sorry I can't be her
But I'm happy she makes you smile
I'm glad she can make you laugh
For after all the while.

I'm sorry Im not as pretty
I'm sorry Im not as I should.
I don't mean to be how I am.
I honestly thought I was good.

And she laughs with you both
As I sit here and heave a heavy sigh
I'll give everything to make you proud
I'll give it my hardest try.

The sentiments of being the sibling/child who have to prove their worth. A very common topic, yet one that is capable of being complete understood by a large majority of people who have brothers and sisters. Just like the character in the poem, in my own life I have felt like the emotions felt. The best thing about those, even though they suck currently. The drive a child who is constantly being ignored beholds is truly magnificent. The way you bring back the line "i'll give it my hardest try" is evident of this desire to be seen, accepted, acknowledge, loved. Nice work.
