Poem about letting go.

The bass is pounding
Lights flashing blue and red
I get a drink, take a hit
I need you out of my head

People move together
Bodies swaying - souls as one
My mind starts to blur
My heart begins to run

The music vibrates my body
I shut my eyes and let it all sink in
My friends do it fun -
I do it not to remember again

I take a sip of my drink
I laugh with my friend
If I forget you tonight -
I don't want this night to end

But I push you aside for now
Because you're not thinking of me
I won't kill myself tonight
Over what we use to be

I raise my glass in the air
My friend's drink meets mine
I take another hit
The world begins to shine.

I can't forget you
But I'll damn sure try
The music takes over
As I silently whisper goodbye

Because when life takes all you got
All you need to do is give
You know the night is going to die
So just why not let it live.
