There is an island
Hardly anyone does know No one has ever heard of Where no one does go. But I came to the island When I was a small girl I sorely missed home My head was in a whirl. I stood on the beach And looked out to sea As I did, I saw you And you saw me. A girl my age About seven or so With wavy blonde hair Skin like snow. I was shy, outspoken You flashed a smile Held out a shell in your hand Said, "Lets play for a while". I returned the smile, And away you ran And we laughed all day As played in the sand. As the golden sun set We laid on the shore "Lets always be friends," you said I smiled to the core. That day I found A friend like no other We spent days upon days Laughing with one another. Though we're older And we're miles away I would give anything to go back To relive that first day. To tell you we'll be friends And I'll always be here As long as I got you There's nothing I'll fear.

I've lived around the world, and I wanted a place to share my writing. I'm a sucker for beat poems, and I would be lost without sports and literature in my life. .. more..Writing
