In our childhood,
A hole was in the center of
Our family.
Threatening to suck us in,
To Break our family apart.
We tread around it,
On tiptoes.
Nobody acknowledged its existence
As life went on.
Before sunrise,
Job summoned him.
Leaving the house,
He never looked back,
To our sleeping forms
After sunset,
Work filled his mind.
Heading home,
He never looked forward,
To dinner time with us.
My father and we,
Live two separate lives.
Worn out by work,
And the “real world”,
Our teenagers’ troubles are
Ridiculous fantasies,
Elude his imagination completely.
A hole in fabrics
Only got tore larger,
As time goes by.
Where’s the mending hand?
Fortunately, we found it in the end.
Never too late
Love.
Love overcomes everything:
Pride, hardship, and all our differences.
Dad:
We know your sacrifices,
Just to spend more time with us.
And it is paying off,
We are puzzles with changing shapes,
Yesterday, the extra bump flatten
Today, a piece protruded, to fit into another
Like the line on my sister’s card:
“We are family!”
One day, we will fit together to become
The greatest source of happiness
In our lives.
On 08/08, I want to shout out to the world,
“I love my dad!”
And wipes out all the doubts in your mind.
Happy Father’s Day!
