Razor Blade

Razor Blade

A Poem by Joy C
"

Just wanting to join a dark poetry contest :)

"

Red dripping,
Pain sprouts from my veins
Guilt seeping out.
A punishment

Zigzag marks of relief
Along my wrist

Clawing at the scar
Sparks of pain shoots up to my brain
Not enough. Need the Blade

Being reduced to a tattered red doll

My metal blade of escape

You show the emotional need very well in this piece. Love the word choices. Excellent structure! The font adds a lot to the poem.

Geez! I wouldn't know what that is like. But, I hope you do find a healthier way of relieving the emotions mentioned, as the previous reviewer said as well; Assuming you are in fact doing this. Either way, this poem does brin the attention to what this is and why it is done. Short and to the point.

At one time, the razor blade was a very good, close friend of mine, so this poem, speaks volumes to me.
You really nailed the emotions that go with it! I like the way you chose to color the word red, gives it a little more depth and reality. In a few words, you have told of a harrowing disease that too many suffer from and too few recognize.
So if your just wanting to join the contest, I pray that this has no truth behind it for you. I realized along time ago that there are far more healthier ways to release the overwhelming emotions that build up inside. Other ways to focus the emotional pain and make it go away. But those days are never as far behind me as I'd like them to be and that razor still calls to me at times. It's writing and reading others work that helps keep it at bay. So thank you for sharing this, be it truth or not. If it so happens that it is...know that there are people who can relate and who can help. Good god, I sound like my mother..time to shut up!

Great dark moment write!
