The Robin’s SongA Poem by WGSHASSEREFree Verse PoemTHE ROBIN’S SONG By wgshassere
Singing in the summer’s night. A sound, a tune, a melancholy delight. A song known to most tonight. A symphony from nature’s store of all that’s so very right.
Given by nature with wings to fly. The robin comes in the light of day. Singing as lovely as a golden butterfly. A song so delightful from yesterday is sung for all today. A song sung throughout the eve until the moon does come. A tune played each lovely night until the sweet music sleeps tonight.
When the music stops, the robin does take flight. Soaring high into the night. Saying goodby to summer light. Darkness settles o’er the dell.
Snow will fall, berries sought, morn may never come. If the berries be too few. If the snow be too deep. Left with only a memory of the song so lovely sung.
The robin’s lullaby, a symphony oh so sweet, may never again be heard on a warm summer week. The time must come when the robin will fly away high, high above the rest. Leaving the nest to say goodby. Flown away from most our sight but please remember and never forget the delightful tune and love the song he sang most every night.
