A Satisfied Man (2012)A Poem by Wesley DinglerIf you've come to me for empathy for your woes I hate to say but, I'm not a fan-- As I, who was unhappy as a young adult, Am now a satisfied man
(it's easy, as long as you understand one thing: that negativity only begets further negativity)
It's true--We've woven similar stories, As both of our wrists proclaim But I promise you this (if anything): You and I are not the same
(it's easy, once you comprehend one thing: that the darkness you've seen, you chose to see)
So--
If you've come to me for empathy for your plight I'm cynical to say but, I'm not a fan-- As I, who have struggled with reality most of my life, Am now a satisfied man
(it's an ambiguous form of narcissism, I believe: that so many of us suffer so needlessly) © 2020 Wesley DinglerFeatured Review
