Gentle Perversion (2015)

Gentle Perversion (2015)

A Poem by Wesley Dingler

Don't know just what's to come of us tonight;

But you can take all your sympathy and move it aside.

How much of my soul is wasted just before our eyes?;

   Now that I'm leavin' you

   No reason to

Leave the light on this time.

Do you ever feel like

   A different person,

Brought to a new light

   By a gentle perversion?

Like you moved to choose a new,

   But instead the path chooses you...

         (and, like that, all others are gone)

Honey, when you only had to say: No,

Just how am I supposed to weigh those

Feelings that would only lean to mistreat me?

Please don't bother to speak to me

   (no, not this time,

   and no, not in time),

And don't try to reach for me...

   Just let this question I ask

     Be my very last:

Do you ever feel like

   A different person,

Brought to a new light

   By a gentle perversion?

Like you moved to choose a new,

   But instead the path chooses you...

         (and, like that, all others are gone)
