Spirit of Sanctity (2013-2014)A Poem by Wesley DinglerTo my mother, Doris Ann Strickland. The Spirit of Sanctity still haunts the earth, In the quiet and homely spaces between shadows and mirth-- The only places now where she can feel secure; The only places left where good will seems to endure; Where she still finds an ear she may allure--
And she has a place for me there.
It took me some time--a lifetime, in truth-- To find my way through the Garden of Muse (Baffled in every direction by the troubles of Ruth; Seeking refuge under many a willow and spruce) But was worth every second, once I fell bemused--
Now see me be healed.
With a caring voice and a subtle hand, She drowned out the noise, so I might understand (As I had come out of shadows, just to be drawn back in) Then, all shadows faded, as a single tear rolled down my skin-- Faded as do the troubles of dying men--
For
a mere moment of faith,
I gained a lifetime of perspective. © 2020 Wesley DinglerFeatured Review
