The Lover’s Heart (2018)A Poem by Wesley DinglerEven I know not to question a lover’s heart. But you don’t know just how hard it was for me to see you happy in another’s arms.
It was a stark sight. So I turned to Jim beam and hard light, to neutralize what looks like a bar fight, in my heart’s eyes.
Even you know not to question a wanderer’s art. But I may never know how hard it hurt when I plunged the knife into your heart.
It was a car ride, that turned to a wreck with the next hard right. And left love divided there in the dark night, in your heart’s eyes.
And I know how hard your heart’s tried; through good times and through hard times. So how can I question it, if his arms is where your heart lies?
Even I know not to question a lover’s heart. Even if you never know just how hard it was for me to see you happy in another’s arms. © 2020 Wesley DinglerFeatured Review
