Lovesick (2016)A Poem by Wesley DinglerLovesick as I once looked at you, My gaze is obscured now by a half-truth. Because, baby, I'm not sick anymore; But, all the same, I still must ask you: Did you ever notice, When we were standing face-to-face, That both of us are hopeless, But only one of us was in the wrong place? I gave you a warmth that could forever smolder, But it had only made me that much colder. So, tonight-- I don't know. No--I don't know you anymore. I thought I knew you then, But you were so much more Than anything I'd seen before or have seen since. Tell the truth-- What does it really do To love someone so cold to the touch? Someone who only loves you half as much-- Affection and Love and Sickness aside, The heart is wider than the sky, But I don't know I can fit this inside. I guess the real question is: Am I still boyish enough to try? Well, I might; But not without this Question also assigned: Did you ever notice, When we were standing face-to-face, That both of us are hopeless, But only one of us was in the wrong place? I gave you a warmth that could forever smolder, But it had only made me that much colder. So, tonight-- I just don't know. No--I don't know you anymore. I thought I knew you then, But you were so much more Than anything I'd seen before or have seen since...
