sweet little sparrowA Poem by Chelsey
Sweet little sparrow flying quickly on the raven wings
Whispering to Heaven to take him out of Hell. The bed the boy once lay in now sits twisted by the door As his mattress gives way to the throne upon the floor. He picked up his curtains to see the sparrow dying now Every second his wings flap brings him closer down. No one knows what matters until they realize they don't But boys and their quarters are buying into lies. "Leave the simple things by the door" Reads a sign few have chosen to implore. I know time and time again I'll say time does not exist But if you want to bring me closer it's much easier than this. Kiss me quick on solid ground so I might ride the shockwave home And if I don't reach my destination well I'll still have your soul. Maybe we'll meet up again in a distant land of old, But hope is but a prayer said on knees caked with broken bone. There's nothing like contempt to bring misery to light I've fought so many times, I'm ready now to fly. There's a song sung through the window and it's not resting right just yet So I'm singing my own verses until I feel the chapter come. I've been searching for the door so I can close it tight. Your voice is like the scaffolding by this home we tried to build. I'm falling off and breaking up like you broke up with me. If all that happens does so for a reason Then I'll rhyme every sentence until the world spins with me new seasons. Carry on, carry on, carry on. © 2010 Chelsey |
