I Could Not Cry

I Could Not Cry

A Poem by Austinsmom
"

"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. ~ Norman Cousins

"

I could not cry

As the Preacher read the eulogy

I could not cry

There was no empathy

I could not cry

Nor would my soul wilt

I could not cry

He never felt with any guilt

I could not cry

He never cared the hurt he gave

I could not cry

For my soul to be saved

I could not cry

No matter how I tried

I could not cry

The day that he died

I could not cry

I could not feel pain

I could not cry

Though I tried in vain

I could not cry

For he never showed the care

I could not cry

As if I was never even there

I could not cry

I could not weep

I could not cry

When it was time for his final sleep

Sometimes not being able to cry or feel is worse than actually feeling and crying. I like this piece a lot, the form and flow are nice.

Wonderfully done. So sad. I could feel so much emotion in this piece and imagine so much happening in the heart of someone you could not cry.
