Unexpected friends

Our hero awakens to find a new friend and a world waiting for him

I hope the next morning to a peaceful state of mind the birds outside were singing and the sunlight was warm as shone upon my face. I set up in bed to see the cheerful face of the maid girl tidying up the floor with the tiny broom and dustpan she was humming in a cheerful toon to the song I had once heard as a child it brought me a little bit of joy remembering that song. " I love that song" I said in a hushed tone realizing that I hadn't spoken in quite some time, " you're awake" she said quickly rushing with her work and leaving the room "wait hold on" I said, but she had already rushed out the door, moments later she returned with a tray of eggs ham and bread. " here I made breakfast for you, it's kind of my way of saying thank you for the other day" she said placing the tray down on the side table." Thank you very much" I smiled, taking a piece of bread from the tray and proceeding to take a bite out of it. She smiled then proceeded to fix my blankets "are you a bit more comfortable now?" She asked "yes thank you" I replied, she got up to leave with a nod of her head when I called out " hey what's your name, I never did ask?" She turned her shoulder and smiled "its Lilly" then she left the room and closed the door. " I guess she's feeling better" I thought and then from the windowsill popped the head of the healer boy James, " better get dressed we've got a big day today" he said once again disappearing under the windowsill, "looks like I've got some work to do" I thought and I got out of bed to start the day.
