Inside the Gallery

A Poem by Wem Ortiz
"

4 years, 6 months and 14 days left.

"
I came by  to see your exhibit,
I was there watching and alone.
I can see your brush strokes in joyful thoughts.
And I can tell you've been doing good lately.
I've known you for so long but haven't seen
such freedom in your work.
How time flies so fast that I can see my hands with yours as if I was painting with you,
mixing colors together for a very amusing masterpieces.
Oh, dear you didn't know how happy I am
as I see traces of us in every fine detail of your creations.

Not until I see this heartbreaking canvas
the figures of you and him.
the gestures he made, as you embraced him with care.
Have you ever thought that I also wanted to be like him?
Not once that I've seen images of us in your very own paintings.
Not even once you proudly say that I was your man.

...

I guess I'm no longer am.

should have thought about it, when I was your man.

(walks away)
