Are you still with me?

Are you still with me?

A Poem by Wem Ortiz

A spoken word poetry, 4 years 6 months and 23 days

"

The earth moves mysteriously, the wind blows side by side.
And we are there, standing, embracing and enjoying the most of that moment
we feel the gestures of truth and the beauty of our inner souls
filling up our hearts with the simplicity of it, we are well satisfied.
We both knew this is neither a form of credulity
nor miscomputations of time.
Not even a misconception of present events
but we know it’s a dire veracity.
Those are the wishes we made, a permanent marks of our story
we fought the battle for years, never won single handedly
but together, and together we prevail
but are we deemed to coexist?
or we follow the paths of what those who are in control told us?
do we stand to our ground of differences or we collide at the center
of our hopes and dwell, in a severe stage of we don’t care at all
we don’t care about what other say, we don’t care about what will come
we don’t care of life’s infirmity, this is what we have gone for years and
our guilt are within us, thus it wouldn’t make us blameworthy. We are just in love
we are not narcotics to be illegalized, codify or pointed out unlawful.
We deserve the rights to be recognized to be free, us civilized humans as we are.
We aim for longevity and not to be punished with Berlin walls between us.
In years I see you suffer but I hold the pain inside and fasten up my seat belt
as I rode with the cavalry of peoples’ hate, in hopes I’ll surpass them as I entrust you my heart that in time we will see each other in a home with our seeds growing
as a fine tree with beautiful flowers as It blossoms from the fruits of our hard labor.
And when the ticking sound comes, I hope we will no longer disguised ourselves
as relatively close friends,  but as lovers. And the world should know
just what have been Bonnie and Clyde was doing.
Romeo and Juliet in an open curtain, Crisostomo and Maria at Luneta, freely walking.
Orwell’s Winston hugging Julia right in front big brothers camera unveiling.
but don’t get me wrong this is not misleading. I just wanted to show you
how important our dream is, its solely freedom of your heart , stopping your lies
towards your own maker, its freedom to show your desire towards
your own people. This is what it should be and not you trapped inside a castle’s tower
guarded with dragons waiting for a prince who would slay your predator.
for this is not fairy tale. This is not as exaggerated the likes of Disney
this is reality, and in reality, life is cruel and we face deceptions right at the very corner.
so I have put my fate in you. As I find our exit to a better life
even if   in  my existence, they all look at me with suspicions
I knew you weren’t one of them that’s what I believe in
not until today , I just can’t say… that…
I saw you walking away entering those shadows
of starry eyes saying I’m useless. These whispers of doubts I no longer hold
when you were with me but today I feel pain of you leaving.
and me living. Without you.
