Before stars were born

Before stars were born

A Poem by bluesaturn

It's been so long
Since I've stared up at the night sky in awe
Trying to count invisible stars
with a smile on my face
And hope in my heart
And remembered how much I am part of this universe too
Insignificant and yet
the most important part of it all,
the taste of starlight on my tongue,
here since the beginning of time
and forever after.
There's so much beauty in this pain.
There's hope in this life and everything that goes beyond.
Somewhere in all of this there is meaning.
Somewhere in all of this there is life.
And I'm ready, here with a map and shovel
So I might find what my soul
has been yearning for
since before stars were born.

A very upbeat, hopeful piece here. It is hard to look up at the night sky when the weather is clear and not feel awed by the vastness of it. As you say, somewhere in all of this there is meaning.
