(97) Goodbye Sarah JaneA Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs
Different faces shed tears
But all of the same man He has lost someone Who meant the Universe to him He is, they are the Doctor For so many years a hero Vanquishing terrifying foes Saving lives the best he can But he is powerless this time Unable to save his closest friend Even he can not win against Death When it comes in the form of cancer Eleven men from different times Eleven men who are the same Wishing they could turn back time But unable to do something they can't Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith, if only you knew How this wide Galaxy loved you so much Somewhere a solitary metal dog cries Saying the words "Goodbye my mistress". copyright Chris Smith 2011 In memory of Elisabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane Smith in both Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Aventures, aged only 63 and taken too soon. © 2011 Chris Smith WelshpoetcsReviews
