(73) Don't Blame Me

(73) Don't Blame Me

A Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs

The World has gone straight to Hell.

Everything keeps on falling apart.

There is some new crisis in the East.

Friend is battling against friend.

Don't blame me.

The government are still making cuts.

National debt continues to be on the rise.

People are finding they are losing their homes.

Eviction is staying on the increase.

Don't blame me.

Crime is in a spiral and out of control.

Women are being targeted for sex attacks.

Each religion is blaming the other one.

No future for the children of today.

Don't blame me.

The media are telling even more lies.

Starvation is becoming the new diet.

Nobody cares about their fellow man.

Because there are no souls found anywhere.

Don't blame me.

You see, darling, everything is in a mess.

Our problems really are just too small.

I hold these hands up because I need you.

We have to be as one, all we have are each other.

I love you, for that don't blame me.

It's interesting, because the last stanza comes up as a beautiful surprise indeed. After all your statements of chaos and disaster, reading 'Don't blame me' sounded like an escapism, a conformist thing, but then we find out that you actually care a lot about all the big issues happening in this world, and that who could blame you for small-couple-like faults, if you still have love. Very beautiful.

What a twist the end provides. I know very well the landscape of which you speak; the cross-communual fighting, random attacks and the grinding poverty. All of which is horrific. BUt you are right, love will triumph.

Hey, don't blame me for saying this poem is GREAT! Such wonderful insight inside this. And so true. We may have many things wrong out there, but the one thing we will always have is love. it makes the world go around, the smiles linger longer and the heart always wish upon the brightest star.

Loved it!

This is such a reality check for so many of us Chris. We all feel helpless with all that's going on and could wear the "Don't blame Me" as a shirt everyday for people to see.. yet in the hearts and souls of who we are there is that one glimmer of hope.. the love we still share for each other... Great write my friend...xx

I love how you shift the perspective here in the last stanza

I love you, for that don't blame me.

and focus the attention on the fact that though we may unable to influence the global nightmare that has been wrought on the planet we are still ever so influential to brighten the spark in our direct sphere of being~and sometimes all these tiny sparks working together may relight the whole world someways for better days~ =)~
